SUM’S SOURDOUGH STARTER SCHOOL
From an Empty Jar to Your First Sourdough Loaf
Learn how to build your first sourdough starter from scratch, understand what it’s telling you, and bake your first loaf with step-by-step, self guided lessons, & me in your back pocket to help every step of the way.
Here’s how we’re gonna do this👇🏼
Start with an empty jar and build your starter from scratch —without panicking over every weird smell or quiet day.
1 - BIRTH
Stop blindly following the clock and start understanding what YOUR starter is actually telling you.
2 - READ
3 - BAKE
Learn when your starter is truly ready, then turn that little jar into your first loaf.
Learn how to care for your starter in real life so you can actually keep baking after Starter School ends.
4 - SUSTAIN
Is Starter School actually for YOU?

YOU’RE STUCK

04 — BAKE YOUR FIRST LOAF
Once your starter is ready, I’ll walk you through turning her into your very first sourdough loaf.
05 — TROUBLESHOOTING
+ REVIVAL
Forgot a feeding? Starter acting dramatic? Something went sideways? You’ll have help figuring out how to move forward.
06 — REAL-LIFE
STARTER CARE
Learn how to feed, store, maintain, and work your starter into your actual schedule—without becoming a full-time jar babysitter. 😂
YES! Send me the picture!
Cause sometimes you need someone to actually look at your jar with you!
Starter smells weird? Send it.
Not sure if she’s hungry? Send it.
Dough looking questionable? SEND. IT. 😂
Inside Starter School, you’re not getting a bunch of lessons and then a “good luck!!”
You’re getting me in your back pocket.🤎
I’ll help you understand what I’m seeing, what your starter or dough is telling you, and what actually makes sense to do next.
Because the goal isn’t for you to need me forever.
The goal is for YOU to eventually look at your jar and confidently say,
“Okay. I know what it needs.”
Ready to Start Your Sourdough Journey?
Enrollment closes November 7th at 11:59PM
(or sooner if class is full)
BUT I STILL HAVE QUESTIONS!
-
If you already have an established sourdough starter, Starter School may not be what you need! 🤎
Starter School is designed for the brand-new sourdough beginner who wants to build a starter from scratch, learn how to understand it, and eventually turn it into their first loaf.
Already have a starter and feel comfortable with the basics? Come hang out with us in Sum’s Sourdough Kitchen Club instead! That’s where we keep baking together with new recipes, tutorials, experiments, and a community to help along the way. 🍞🤎

PERFECT😂 We’re starting with an empty jar. You do not need to know a damn thing about sourdough before you walk through the door. That’s what I’m here for.
-
NOPE 👏🏼 You’ll need a few basic supplies and ingredients, but you absolutely do not need to turn your kitchen into a sourdough laboratory. 😂 I’ll tell you what you actually need—and what you can skip.
-
Life happens. Kids happen. Work happens. You forget about the jar. 😂 That doesn’t mean you failed Starter School. We’ll figure out where your starter is, what it needs, and how to move forward from there.

November 9, 2026! 🍞🤎 Starter School is completely self-guided, meaning there's no set schedule or pressure to keep up! You'll have step-by-step lessons to follow at your own pace, so you can begin your sourdough journey whenever the timing feels right for you!
-
You do NOT need to stand over your starter all day. 😂 I’ll teach you how to read what’s happening and work sourdough into your actual life instead of feeling chained to your jar.
-
You absolutely can. 🥹🤎
Starter School is where you learn how to actually DO sourdough—but you definitely don’t have to leave me after that. 😂
If you want to keep baking together, Sum’s Kitchen Club is where we’ll keep the fun going with new things to bake, continued support, and plenty of reasons to keep that starter alive. 🍞
Kitchen Club is a separate membership, and you’ll have the option to join when the time comes. 🤎
